So many people have been so kind .. Today a man with a big heart (who I dont know so well) donated a large amount and sent a lovely message. I am just so determined that together we can make a difference. The crisis is so huge and the suffering so great it is overwhelming but if enough of us stand up and say enough is enough .. it will help. I will stay focused and try not to be distracted or discouraged by the enormity of the suffering of these families – if I do helping them would seem an impossible task. . Each donation big or small and each message of support is so valued. Thank You

Last day at work

I left my employment as Head of Operations for an amazing company on Friday. Today is the first day of my new career, although I dont know what this is yet. I feel sadness and loss leaving a job and people I love – but after 20 years I know its time for a change of direction. I have been so encouraged by the wide range of people who have donated to the Winter Lesbos Fund, it is good to know so many people refuse to be swayed by the anti-refugee brigade .. People Power

Each day as I watch the growing refugee crisis, I feel a despair which wont subside.  I look at my family and put myself in the position of the refugees – fleeing bombs and torture in their Homeland.  I am stunned at the scale of the suffering and the lack of coordinated response from our governments across Europe and the developed world.  I want to do something practical to help and so I have planned to travel out to Lesvos from 8 to 17 January 16.  I don’t mind what I do to help – cook, clean, hand out supplies, help with transport .. and provide a friendly face.   The donated funds will all be used to provide clothing, food, shelter and transport on the island.

It is all organised now – flights /accommodation etc .. people have been so generous donating to the cause, so many people feel the same as me but are not in the position to make the trip.
